Hastings on England's sunshine coastHastings – on England’s Costa del Sol – shares with neighbouring Eastbourne the record for the most hours of sunshine ever recorded in a month in Great Britain – logging 383.9 hours during July of 1911, when the country experienced one of its greatest heat waves of the 20th century. That amount of sunshine would have put the two English seaside towns on a par with summertime in Las Vegas, in terms of sunniness although in Vegas the temperatures would have been hotter.

This week we are experiencing another heatwave, with sun-drenched Hastings looking like a beach resort in some more exotic locale than overlooking the English Channel.
